Abstract

The practical experience of teaching foreign languages shows that the teaching methods in this area are not sufficiently developed, focused on memorizing vocabulary by expanding the memory of students. In order to attract students, we need to use various innovative teaching methods. One of these methods is mnemonics, which has already demonstrated high efficiency in memorizing information of any volume. The problem of memory in the context of learning English is very relevant. The article analyzes various memorization techniques that help in perception and reproduction of foreign words and phrases. The paper presents examples of using mnemonic techniques in practice of teaching English for students of engineering specialties. The author comes to the conclusion that mnemonic techniques should be supplemental to the traditional methods of teaching foreign vocabulary. The results can be a tremendous resource for teachers, allowing them to enrich their collection of methodological techniques of planning foreign language lessons using knowledge of mnemonics.
