Keywords:

Economic sanctions in the modern world are the most common tool of foreign policy. In foreign policy, they can be used both as an addition to the use of force and as an alternative to the use of force. In particular, the State can use sanctions as a means of forcing individual states to comply with the political demands of the countries initiating sanctions. To date, the number of sanctions from the UN Security Council has increased significantly. But mechanisms are also being improved, thanks to which it will be possible to mitigate the impact of sanctions on the economies of countries. For the initiators, sanctions are a legitimate way that forces countries to fulfill international obligations or to comply with any norms established by international acts. But for the countries against which sanctions are used, they pose a threat to national security. Despite this, the countries recognize the legitimacy of the sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council, but do not recognize the unilateral measures of developed countries.
