THE IMPACT OF HISTORICAL TRAUMAS ON MODERN SOCIETY: AN ANALYSIS OF IDENTITY AND SOCIAL RELATIONS IN POST-CONFLICT SOCIETIES

The article examines the complex and multifaceted impact of historical trauma on post-conflict societies, analyzing their effect on various aspects of social and cultural life. Historical traumas caused by wars, genocides, forced deportations, repressions, and other catastrophes leave a deep imprint on the collective memory and identity of peoples, significantly influencing their political culture and intergroup relations.
Historical traumas shape identity, affect collective memory, and political processes in post-conflict societies. Special attention is paid to the mechanisms of transgenerational transmission of these traumas, when the consequences of catastrophes continue to be felt over several generations.
The role of memorial practices, such as monuments, museums, public events, and educational programs, in preserving memory of the past and shaping new narratives is explored.
Particular emphasis is placed on the issues of forming a new identity based on the principles of responsibility, solidarity, and creation. Awareness and recognition of historical traumas, as well as the development of humane memorial policies, play a key role in this process. Such approaches contribute to overcoming the negative consequences of historical traumas and creating conditions for peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.
The analysis relies on an interdisciplinary approach, including sociology, psychology, cultural studies, political science, and other sciences. This allows us to consider the problem from different perspectives and propose comprehensive solutions that take into account both individual and collective aspects of experiencing and overcoming historical traumas.
The results of the study allow a deeper understanding of the mechanisms of the impact of historical traumas on society and the proposal of comprehensive solutions that take into account both individual and collective aspects of experiencing and overcoming these traumas.
