STRUCTURAL AND SEMANTIC FEATURES OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS REPRESENTING THE CONCEPT PUNISHMENT

The article is devoted to the investigation of the concept of PUNISHMENT in the linguistic worldview of native speakers of English and Russian, based on the material of phraseological units. The relevance of the work is determined by the need to develop under-researched concepts whose analysis contributes to solving issues such as the characteristics of concepts and the identification of means through which the concept of PUNISHMENT can be expressed at the phraseological level. The object of the study is the phraseological units that objectify the concept of PUNISHMENT in English and Russian. The aim of this study is to identify and compare the structural types of phraseological units representing the concept of PUNISHMENT in English and Russian cultures. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that the obtained results can be used as supplementary material in practical classes of foreign languages as well as in seminars on lexicology.
